Lunchtime Lecture – GLACIOLOGY & CLIMATE CHANGE by Dr. Nicholas Barrand of The British Antarctic Survey

Swansea Museum
Wednesday 22nd February at 1p.m.
Dr. Barrand will introduce the principles that govern the behaviour of glaciers and ice sheets, detail current aspects of glaciological research at the British Antarctic Survey and elsewhere, and describe
the day-to-day realities of living and working in polar environments.
‘The volumes of ice contained within these frozen freshwater stores are sucient to raise global sea-levels by almost 100 m, if melted completely.
In an era of ongoing climate change, the response of glaciers and ice sheets to present and future Global warming is a key concern for humanity.’
