The National Eisteddfod of Wales comes to Swansea on Saturday (August 5th) and the museum will be represented in the City and County’s Tourism marquee. This print from the collection shows a traditional Bardic Gorsedd ceremony the kind of which were adopted by the Eisteddfod from 1819. Dated 1926, the print was produced from a painting by William Grant Murray (1877-1950), who was Head of Swansea Art School and Director of the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery. His monogram can be seen in the bottom right-hand corner.

Relic from The Vetch.

August 1, 2006

This vast mirror, which used to greet players when they arrived at Swansea City’s old home, The Vetch, arrived at the stores today. How it survived the journey here, let alone the stripping down of the old stadium is anyone’s guess. Suffice to say, its in good hands now.
